Waste and sanitation workers, the vital workforce for managing the wastes in the country, require maintaining personal hygiene and practicing it at their workplace.They must have access to essential services to prevent exposure to various occupational hazards. A study on sanitation & waste workers and city authorities of a few local government institutions conducted by ITN-BUET, which reflects their knowledge, attitudes, practices and concerns regarding health hygiene practices during service delivery. The study covered 499 workers in 10 cities, including 3 City Corporations (CC) and 7 Paurashavas. The study explored the areas of improvements in occupational health and safety (OHS) with a particular focus on the spread of COVID-19 and revealed necessary interventions and policy shifting required to improve the occupational health and safety issues of the workers.
